But that was not the case some 50 years ago, when a typical man’s watch was about 35mm wide or even smaller.

It does make sense that people prefer big watches than small watches.

First of all, it is easier to read the time with big watches. Big watches usually have large numbers or markers so the time on the watch is clear.

Secondly, big watches make both men and women look decent and stylish. Big watches usually requires more materials, so big watches provide with a more secure feeling and are more expensive. A big watch makes a man more trustworthy. For ladies, big watches usually imply a more open-minded and passionate character.  So ladies with big watches are tend to be popular too.

Finally, people have been used to wear big watches. For so many years, people have shared the common sense of what makes a good-looking watch. It’s hard to break this recognition. If the watch on your wrist shrink by 20%, probably you’ll feel that it doesn’t look nice anymore.
