Fortis has announced the B-42 Black & Black Limited Edition automatic watch earlier this month.

This watch is limited to 2012 pieces, numbered on the back. But what the watch appeals to me is its sheer aesthetic design, rather than its “limited edition” title.

As far as I am concerned, I don’t care much if the watch is a limited edition. Whether it’s limited edition or not, I can’t afford it anyway. I can only afford for a Fortis replica watch. What it matters to me is the design and look of the watch. After all, people are usually visual animals, they judge your watch by appearance. Only when your watch looks appealing, the limited edition nature will be a plus to evoke more admiration.

When you compare the origianl Fortis B-42 Black and this limited edition of B-42 Black & Black, you can easily jump to the conclusion that the latter is so fetching while the former really sucks.

The magic charm of the Black & Black limited edition watch lies in the simple colour scheme: Black, grey and white. Actually the black watch face, black bezel and black strap are almost the same between the two versions of the watches.

The real changes that make the significant difference between the two watches are the different color use for the numbers on the watch face, bezel, watch hands and the day and date window.

While the standard version uses white numbers on the watch face and bezel, the limited editon uses grey numbers. Although the black and white contrast makes the numbers really clear, it ruins the aesthetics of the watch by making too much scales on its face. It’s obviously overdone. The limited editon is much more smarter to use light color numbers. The grey numbers on the watch looks much more harmonious while still gives you a clear indication of the scale.

As of the watch hands, the standard version use a too contrasting red color on the second hand, which is rather ugly compared with the grey-plus-white hands on the limited version watch. While the standard version coated the whole hour and minute hands with Superluminova white, the limited edition make them only half-coated at the outermost, leaving the rest in grey and hollow.

Finally the color scheme in the day and date window of the limited edition is just opposite to the standard version, again making the watch more elegance.

In a word, the B-42 Black and Black Litmied Edition Automatic watch is more like a upgrade version of the Fortis B-42 Black. It’s looks cooler and more elegant.

As of the technical specs of the watch, I’ll recommend you to visit Mike Disher’s article at WatchTime.com .
