Fortis has announced the B-42 Black & Black Limited Edition automatic watch earlier this month.
This watch is limited to 2012 pieces, numbered on the back. But what the watch appeals to me is its sheer aesthetic design, rather than its “limited edition” title.
As far as I am concerned, I don’t care much if the watch is a limited edition. Whether it’s limited edition or not, I can’t afford it anyway. I can only afford for a Fortis replica watch. What it matters to me is the design and look of the watch. After all, people are usually visual animals, they judge your watch by appearance. Only when your watch looks appealing, the limited edition nature will be a plus to evoke more admiration.
When you compare the origianl Fortis B-42 Black and this limited edition of B-42 Black & Black, you can easily jump to the conclusion that the latter is so fetching while the former really sucks.
(Left: B-42 Black and Black Limited Edition; Right: standard B-42 Black)
The magic charm of the Black & Black limited edition watch lies in the simple colour scheme: Black, grey and white. Actually the black watch face, black bezel and black strap are almost the same between the two versions of the watches.
The real changes that make the significant difference between the two watches are the different color use for the numbers on the watch face, bezel, watch hands and the day and date window.
While the standard version uses white numbers on the watch face and bezel, the limited editon uses grey numbers. Although the black and white contrast makes the numbers really clear, it ruins the aesthetics of the watch by making too much scales on its face. It’s obviously overdone. The limited editon is much more smarter to use light color numbers. The grey numbers on the watch looks much more harmonious while still gives you a clear indication of the scale.
As of the watch hands, the standard version use a too contrasting red color on the second hand, which is rather ugly compared with the grey-plus-white hands on the limited version watch. While the standard version coated the whole hour and minute hands with Superluminova white, the limited edition make them only half-coated at the outermost, leaving the rest in grey and hollow.
Finally the color scheme in the day and date window of the limited edition is just opposite to the standard version, again making the watch more elegance.
In a word, the B-42 Black and Black Litmied Edition Automatic watch is more like a upgrade version of the Fortis B-42 Black. It’s looks cooler and more elegant.
As of the technical specs of the watch, I’ll recommend you to visit Mike Disher’s article at WatchTime.com .

Look at the above picture, can you tell what it is at first glance?
A car engine? That’s pretty close! But er… you are wrong!
This year, the Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier stunned the world with its monster creation – the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti 370 watch.
The Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti 370 is designed to commemorate Bugatti’s release of their now legendary Veyron super-car.
The front of the innovative watch looks like a auto engine. As we all know engine is widely regarded as the heart of a car, it makes perfect sense for the watch designers to house the the heart of the watch – the transversal movement- in the engine-like cylinder. The movement is organized on a horizontal axis instead of the traditional vertical axis.

But how does the watch tell time?
Although it looks like a complicated high-tech gadget at first sight, actually it really simplify the way how people watch time.
Here’s the profile of the watch. The watch face is located at one side of the watch next to the movement. Just imagine, if you wear such watch on your wrist, what will happen when you check the time on your watch?

Yes, you don’t even have to move or turn your wrist to see the time. The watch dial is almost faced to you directly always. Especially when you are driving a car, if you wear the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti 370 watch, you don’t need to raise your hand, or lean your body ahead to see the time. All you have to do is to quickly move your eyeball, then you’ll know the time. It’s more safe and make you more concentrated. What a design!
It’s a interesting invention. But it may also take a while for you to get used to wearing such watch since you always raise your hand to see the watch all the time.
Actually only few will have such trouble of getting used to this new watch. It is said, only 150 pieces of Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti 370 watches will be made every year. The good news is that the high demands of Parmigiani watches drive manufacturers to produce high quality Parmigiani replica. You can spend about $100 to get the Swiss replica at www.WatchesLux.com now.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visited an arms factory in the town of Tula south of Moscow this Monday. A factory worker asked for Putin’s watch tongue in cheek after the prime minister admitted times were tough for ordinary people.
After Putin’s speech on the economy, the metalworker Viktor Zagaevsky approached Putin and said, “Vladimir Vladimirovich, maybe you’ll give me something to remember you by?”
Obviously unable to think of an appropriate souvenir, Mr Putin jokingly asked the man what he wanted. “Maybe your watch,” the worker replied.
A little bit shocked for a moment, Mr Putin promptly took off his watch and gave it away to the man. Then it’s the man’s turn to be stunned.

Zagaevsky shows off his Blancpain Leman Auqua Lung watch given by Mr Putin
The watch, branded by famous Swiss watch maker Blancpain, is worth of about £5,500, which amounts to an average Russian’s yearly income. Later Zagaevsky’s son told the media that it would take his father two years to scrape together enough cash to buy Putin’s watch.

Putin's Blancpain Leman Aqua Lung Watch
It is said Mr Putin couldn’t refuse the man’s request in such circumstances. Some say Putin handed over his watch out of patriotism and good wills since both Zagaevsky’s two sons serve in the Russian military in addition that Zagaevsky works for the weapon factory.
Actually this was not the first time for Putin to gave away his watch to his Russian countrymen. Just last month, the Prime Minister met a shepherd when he is having a holiday in a desolate mountain areas in Siberia. He gave his watch to the shepherd’s son as a gift for the shepherd’ hospitable reception.
Mr Putin is known for his penchant for Swiss watches. It is said the most expensive watch Mr Putin owns is a yellow gold Patek Philippe watch that retails for about £35,000.
Given Putin’s status as a national leader, he would not wear a Patek Philippe replica watch – which you can buy on the internet easily. That means the Patek Philippe watch would cost more than Putin’s annual salary. This raised discussion about how Putin accumulates his wealth.
In my opinion, to avoid such rumor, maybe next time Mr Putin can just have a photo taken with his people and then autograph on the photo as a present. Since Putin is widely respected in Russia as a national hero, I think the Russians would readily accept this more personalizd and memorable gift.

Tags: replica watch, watch design trend
Will you still think your watch is nice if it shrink to only the watch dial size? Maybe for many people, it is really hard to accept the shrink, but it is said that this is going to be the trend of watch designs.
The “Small” Trend
The trend is driven by both the fashion circle and watch makers. In the fashion world, it is common that fashion runs on a circle. After decades of circling, this is not surprised that out-dated design becomes popular again. Since today’s watch has been so big, it looks really odd if the size of the watch continue to grow. So it’s natrual that fashion designers want to lower the watch size.
On the other hand, watch companies are suffering a lingering economic crisis, many have to cut cost to survive. Big watches require more materials and cost more, so it’s reasonable that the watch company would like to cut the size of the watch.
But are the customers willing to follow the trend intentionally made by the fashion designers and watch makers?
The Big still prevails
For at least five years, big watches that are 40mm – 48mm wide are seen with every major watch brand. Sometimes the size even goes up to 55-60mm wide. Wearing a big watch has become a fashion. But that was not the case some 50 years ago, when a typical man’s watch was about 35mm wide or even smaller.
It does make sense that people prefer big watches than small watches.
First of all, it is easier to read the time with big watches. Big watches usually have large numbers or markers so the time on the watch is clear.
Secondly, big watches make both men and women look decent and stylish. Big watches usually requires more materials, so big watches provide with a more secure feeling and are more expensive. A big watch makes a man more trustworthy. For ladies, big watches usually imply a more open-minded and passionate character. So ladies with big watches are tend to be popular too.
Finally, people have been used to wear big watches. For so many years, people have shared the common sense of what makes a good-looking watch. It’s hard to break this recognition. If the watch on your wrist shrink by 20%, probably you’ll feel that it doesn’t look nice anymore.
Solutions
If you are not sure if you should follow the trend to wear big watches or small watches, try a replica watch first. You can wear a replica watch to test if you can get used to the trend and test how people like your new watch. With affordable replica watch, you can always lead the trend and have your own style. For big watches and watches with reasonable size, see replica watches.

Tags: Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair
The world’s largest watch expo, the 28th Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair turns out to be a little sluggish as some statistics and interview show.
At the watch fair
The fair closed on September 6th. Despite attracting more than 700 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions, actually the numbers of the exhibitors decreased by 5% compared with last year. The decrease of the exhibitors shows that the watch makers is still worried about the prospect of the market.

For those who took part in the exhibitions as exhibitors, many said their turnover at the fair had fallen by 20 to 30 per cent. According to many exhibitors, buyers became more cautious. “In the past, the buyers usually placed orders quickly soon after they check the watch. But this year, they take several times longer to confirm the orders” One salesman told the reporter.
“People don’t want to spend more on watches these days. But I think luxury brands should have been affected more than the cheaper watches,” said Jitendra Chawla from Sprinto Time, an exhibitor at the fair.
The fair is a weatherglass in the industry. This most important purchasing event in the industry attracts buyers from all over the globe. But exhibitors said many buyers have opted to cautiously window shop this year instead. It seems the sector is still far from recovered, although the global economic crisis has been lasted for almost one year, since the collapse of investment bank Lehman Brothers on Sept. 15, 2008.
“I try to get the cheaper version to accommodate my clients’ budget and all that,” commented one buyer, who was at the fair.
Despite the current sluggish business, many believed that the worst time has passed. Some expect the business could turn around in the middle of 2010.
New Watch Design Trends
Where is the way out for the watch industries? What’s the watch design trends in the future?
Elise Tsui, Director of Commerce and Trade Division with the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries, recently talked about her opinions in an intervew. She said, watches has been evoled from sheer timing tools into personalized accessories. More and more people are demanding an individualized watch. So watches with strong style will be more and more popular. The popular watch will features precious stones and many decorative elements.
Some Hong Kong watch designers pointed out that there is not much changes in recent watch designs, but they will continue to combine the current manufacture techniques with different materials to creat brand new products.
Consumers will become more demanding and rational, Tsui said, so watch makers should concentrate more on building the watch function, brand value and brand culture.
I think this is also ture for replica watch makers. The global economic crisis really gives replica watch a great development opportunities. Replica watch maker should keep up with the development of new techniques and keep on improving their product quality. Only if they can create high quality replica watches with exactly the same look as the original watches, will people be willing to buy replica watches.

Things change. Enterprises should adapt to the changing environment to survive. So do the high-end watch makers.
Although the Swiss watch industry does see some recovering sign recently that the watch exports is slowly recovering, no one can tell if they can survive when this unprecedented global economic crisis finally ends. Obviously the luxury watchmakers are suffering hunger.
How will they survive? Some luxury watchmakers show their answers by offering a few entry level watches this season.
Baume & Mercier
The Swiss watch company Baume & Mercier was founded in 1830, their watches are marked by personality, elegance and constant renewal in its heritage. A Baume & Mercier watch typically sells around $3,100, but both the Hampton Classic 8810 and 8812 with scrach resistant sapphire crystal and quartz movement are sold at $1,390, which is less than the half of the average price.

Bvlgari
The Italian jeweler and luxury goods retailer Bvlgari has a long history dates back to 1884. Bulgari watches combine timeless beauty of Roman and Greek art while showing a distinctive contemporary touch. Usually Bvlgari watches retail from $3250 to $150,000. But their Carbon Gold 125th Anniversary Watch with 18kt white gold and carbon case are only priced at $1450.

Hublot
Hublot is a young Swiss watch brand created in 1980. But their watches are highly sought-after soon after its foundation for their sobriety, comfort and the characteristic shape. Hublot watches generally range between $10,000 to $20,000. Some even over million dollars. But the Hublot Big Bang Classic Zirconium with a face with interior anti-reflection treatment retails for only $8,000.
Vacheron Constantin
Vacheron Constantin is considered to be the oldest watchmaker in the world. Most of Vacheron Constantin watches are sold between $20,000 and $30,000. But the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automactic with Titanium Bezel is priced at only $9,800. And it’s water resistant up to 150 meters.

Piaget
The Swiss watch brand Piaget has been cultivating the spirit of luxury by cultivating creativity, attention to detail, as well as totally integrated watchmaking and jewellery know-how. Piaget watches typically sells from $20,000 and up, but the Piaget Polo FortyFive Standard Automatic retails for only $11,900. It’s the first Piaget watch made from titanium and it operates at 21,600 vibrations per hours, which is a feature usually found in much more expensive watches.
Whether these entry level watches will be popular are still not known. But in my opinion, the rich won’t be interested in such watches. For most of the people with average salary, the prices of these so called entry level watches are still quite high and unattractive. For them, replica watches are better alternatives if they want to wear brand name watches. So it appears that the prospect of these entry level watches are not looking good. We’ll see it.

He is only 30 years old, but his one-man business of producing one-of-a-kind luxury timepieces is already gaining international attention.
Currently he finishes only 50 watches per year, each usually costs more than 3,500 euros. His customers have to put their names on the waiting list for a long time to get a piece of his watch.
Who is he?
He is Stefan Kudoke, a rising star in the luxury watchmaking industry.
Using a complicated technique called “skeletonising”, the making of Stefan Kudoke’ watch requires painstaking drilling and sawing with implements less than one millimetre thick. Kudoke is so proud that his watches show people what makes them tick. His watches display exquisite artistry, engraved and encrusted with jewels.

Kudoke began his first experience with watchmaking as an apprentice in his hometown in just 10th grade. At 21 he worked as a custom watchmaker for renowned manufacturer Glashütte Original, before moving to the Swiss Swatch Group to work in customer services for the luxury market. Having a vision to stand on his own two feet in the luxury watch market, Kudoke left the secure and well-paid job for a place at the Lusatia craft school in Senftenberg seven years ago.
Although Kudoke is still largely unknown in his hometown, Kudoke already sold his watch abroad via internet. Most of his customers are from Japan and America. He plans to expand his business as soon as the economic crisis passes.
It is said Kudoke will be awarded the Brandenburg “Future Prize” in honour of his achievements on November 2. We wish this promising German watchmaker a great success in the future. By the time we see Kudoke replica watch available in the market, we’ll know that he already built his watch kingdom.

The high-end watch maker Movado Group Inc.’s (MOV) unexpectedly stayed in the black in its fiscal second-quarter, though profit plunged 94%, as it cut operating expenses by 31% in the most recent period.
For the second quarter, Movado earned $528,000, or 2 cents a share, compared with $8.1 million, or 32 cents, a year ago. Last year, the company’s revenue tanked 31% to $89.7 million from $129.7 million. Despite of facing a very weak market as affluent customers pull back on luxury spending, Movado maintained its full-year outlook of about 50 cents a share.
Chief Operating Officer Rick Cote said cost cuts remain on track for annualized savings between $50 million and $60 million, adding the company will continue to reduce inventory.
Last month Movado’s rival Fossil also announced lower second-quarter profit, but beat Wall Street’s forecast and raised its full-year guidance.
In addition to Movado, the Movado Group, Inc. also markets other watch brands such as Concord, Coach, Ebel, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy Couture, Lacoste Watches and RALCO.

The 28th Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair, the largest trade show of its kind in the world, opened in Hong Kong this Wednesday.
The fair showcases more than 700 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions. 63 buying missions representing more than 2,460 buyers from 61 countries and regions will be present at the Fair, according to Fair organizer, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
The fair is expected to run till Sept. 6. Highlights include the Pageant of Eternity, a new zone devoted to high-end watches, with 260 exhibitors participating. The Brand Name Gallery, featuring about 100 designer collections of international brands, will be open to the public for the first time on the last day of the show, giving ordinary customers the opportunity to experience this world-class event.

Along with the high-end timepieces on display, visitors will be treated to a dance performance and two mini-watch parades. In addition, Ms Hong Kong 2009 Sandy Lau and the contest’s first two runners-up, along with the overall champion and youth group champion of Mr Hong Kong 2009, will showcase the winning pieces from the Watch & Clock Design Competition. Two lucky draws will offer six brand watches as prizes. Just to remind you, all exhibits are for display only and not for sale. The admission fee is HK$10; free admission for visitors under 12 and 65 and over. The ticket counter closes at 3pm.
Hong Kong had exported about 2.5 billion U.S. dollars worth of watches and clocks in the first half of 2009, which dropped about 23 percent compared with last year. The city was the world’s second largest exporter of complete watches and complete clocks in 2007. Over half was re-exports of mainland origin and the European Union, the United States and the Chinese mainland were the major markets.
As this watch and clock fair is held under the global financial turmoil, we’ll see the health status of the watches market after the fair is ended and the transaction statistics is released.
